Privacy Policy

The short version

This is a static website. It sets no cookies and loads no advertising or cross-site tracking scripts. Every calculator runs entirely in your browser — the numbers you type are never sent to us. We use cookieless aggregate analytics (see below), and the one piece of personal information you can send us is your email address, only if you choose to use the checklist signup form.

What we collect

Cookieless usage records without an account or visitor ID. When you click certain buttons (for example "open a calculator" or an affiliate link), your browser sends a server operated by us a tiny message containing the event name and page path. For a clicked link it may also contain the link destination, its short button label, and a bounded page placement or product identifier; referral and UTM campaign tags are kept when they are present. To check whether the layout works across large monitors, the message also includes one broad viewport category: desktop, wide, or ultrawide. We never send the exact screen dimensions. It contains no cookies, user or device identifiers, fingerprint, advertising pixel, or anything typed into a calculator. We use these aggregate counts to see which tools and guides are useful. The counter is hosted onapi.spanvero.com, another Cynosure LLC project, and stores only UTC-day totals plus the bounded fields described here—not a row for each request. This replaced the launch-day "no data collection at all" state on July 9, 2026 (noted under "Changes" below, as promised).

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, provided by the same company that hosts and protects the site, to estimate page visits, referrers, broad country, browser and device categories, and whether a browser looks automated. Its browser beacon is cookieless: we do not set a visitor ID, use local storage for analytics, fingerprint a device, or receive a list of individual visitors. Cloudflare reports sampled aggregate totals, so we use them as trend estimates rather than claiming an exact count of people. Our first-party event counter also stops when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.

Email addresses

The site includes a signup form for our freeEmergency Power Planning Checklist. Submitting it sends us exactly one thing: the email address you type. We store it withBrevo, our email service provider, and use it only to deliver the checklist and occasional practical planning content.

We never sell or share your address. Every mailing offers a way to unsubscribe, and you can also ask us to delete your address entirely at any time by emailing us — we will remove it from Brevo. The form uses a hidden anti-bot field instead of tracking or CAPTCHAs, and signup attempts are processed by our host (Cloudflare) to deliver them to Brevo.

Server logs

Like nearly every website, the hosting provider that serves these pages keeps standard server logs, which typically include IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. We use such logs, if at all, only for security and to keep the site running. They are governed by the hosting provider's own retention practices.

Advertising measurement (currently switched off)

As of the effective date above, we run no ads and share nothing with any ad platform. If we ever run ads to help people find the site, we want to measure honestly whether they worked — and we will do it without adding tracking to these pages. Specifically: our own server (not your browser) would report a signup "conversion" to the ad platform (Meta), containing only your email address in one-way hashed (SHA-256) form — not readable as an address — plus the address of the page the signup happened on. This would happen only for the checklist signup, only while ads are running, and only for measuring the ads. We will never add an advertising pixel, third-party script, or tracking cookie to the site itself, and we will update this page and its effective date before any such sharing begins.

Affiliate links and other websites

Some links on this site may be affiliate links (see ourAffiliate Disclosure). Our cookieless counter records the outbound click as described above. The merchant site you land on will typically set its own cookies to attribute the referral, and its privacy policy, not ours, governs what happens there. The same is true of any external site we link to.

Children

This site is a planning tool for buying power equipment and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, children included.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top before the new practice takes effect. Material changes will be summarized here in plain language rather than buried in rewording.

• July 31, 2026 — added aggregate measurement for the simplified navigation, homepage starting choices, and progressive tool drawer. Added a broad desktop/wide/ultrawide layout category to compare readability across monitor classes; exact dimensions, sessions, and visitor identifiers are not collected.
• July 14, 2026 — disclosed Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless aggregate browser beacon used to estimate likely-human visits, referral sources, and broad browser/device/country categories. No advertising tracker or persistent visitor identifier was added.
• July 9, 2026 — added cookieless first-party usage counting (event name, page path, and bounded link/referral/campaign fields, logged by our Cloudflare Worker and stored as daily aggregates by our Spanvero API). No account or visitor ID and no advertising script.
• July 9, 2026 — added the "Advertising measurement" section describing how server-side conversion reporting would work if we ever run ads. Nothing is shared today; the section exists so the plan is disclosed before it could ever be used.
