Some links on this page may be paid links. If you buy through them, Cynosure LLC may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We do not claim to have personally tested products unless clearly stated.
That's the disclosure you'll see repeated near product links across the site. The rest of this page explains what it means in practice.
What affiliate links are
An affiliate link is an ordinary product link with a tracking code attached. If you click one and then buy something from the retailer, the retailer pays Cynosure LLC (the company that runs Power Preflight) a small commission. The price you pay is the same either way — the commission comes out of the retailer's side, not yours.
You are never required to use our links. If you'd rather search for a product yourself and buy it directly, you'll get the same product at the same price, and we simply earn nothing.
How links affect what we publish
Simply: they don't. Specifically —
- The formulas and assumptions behind every calculator are fixed and published on How We Estimate. No commission changes a watt-hour.
- Comparison pages and setup suggestions are organized by capacity class and use case, not by which retailer pays better.
- We do not accept payment for placement, rankings, or coverage, and we do not write "reviews" of products we haven't used. When a product appears here, it's as an example of a category with its specs to verify — not an endorsement.
How to spot affiliate links here
Product links carry a rel="sponsored" attribute (which also tells search
engines they're paid links), and any page that contains them shows a disclosure like the
one at the top of this page. Buttons labeled "See current price" on
comparison pages are the most common place you'll find them.
Current status
As of the last update, Power Preflight is not yet enrolled in affiliate programs; this page governs links once programs are joined. Product links on the site are currently placeholders and are labeled as such. When we join a program — for example, the Amazon Associates program — we will update this page to name it, and any program-specific disclosure wording it requires will be added here and to the pages that use its links.
